Background and Experience

Soziale Dienste und Jugendhilfe gGmbH (SDuJ) is a non-profit organization based in Germany, dedicated to promoting social integration, education, and empowerment for marginalized communities — particularly people with a migration background. Since its founding, SDuJ has developed a strong network of partners and stakeholders to implement a variety of projects targeting vulnerable groups.

The organization offers AZAV-certified individual coaching aimed at promoting labor market integration. This includes personalized activation and vocational integration measures, resulting in 77% of participants securing employment or apprenticeships — all from migrant backgrounds. The insights gained from these individual coaching sessions have been instrumental in designing group coaching curricula and other project frameworks.

SDuJ works closely within migrant communities, developing low-threshold access points through trusted figures and culturally sensitive approaches. Its experience spans empowerment projects, mentorship programs, educational initiatives, and combating racism and discrimination.

Projects (Selection)

Topic Name Description
Mentoring & Integration Wir sind Paten Since 2016, this nationwide mentorship project has supported over 16,000 tandem partner-ships, originally focusing on refugees but now expanded to broader “Chance Partnerships.” Activities include reading cafés (Al-Hakawati), tutoring, application training, and intercul-tural competency workshops — empowering volunteers and mentees alike.
Women Empowerment Jetzt bin ich dran! A project supporting refugee mothers by providing workshops, discussion rounds, counsel-ing, and childcare to enable active participation. It fosters self-determination, balancing family, work, and personal development while promoting women to become project lead-ers themselves.
Community Inclusion Haus der Vielfalt und Teilhabe A vibrant community center that fosters cultural exchange, participation, and education. It serves as a safe space for intercultural dialogue and collaborative social projects, strength-ening local cohesion
Educational Empowerment Auf Erfolgs-Kurs Focused on empowering migrant women for the job market through tailored coaching and skills development, enhancing employment opportunities and self-confidence. This project draws from years of coaching expertise to provide effective, needs-based training.
Historical Awareness Geschichte in Bewegung A dynamic project that connects youth with local history, particularly exploring migration stories, encouraging reflection on the past to promote understanding and social cohesion today.
Democracy Education Vielfalt bestimmt! This project empowers migrants — especially those from Arabic-speaking backgrounds — with democratic skills and knowledge, promoting active participation in local and regional politics. Using a peer-to-peer approach, participants engage in workshops, excursions to local parliaments, and democracy meetups to build confidence and awareness of their political rights. The goal: enabling participants to become multipliers of democratic values within their communities.
Combating Racism Bündnis gegen antimuslimischen Rassismus Co-founded in 2023 with key partners, this alliance raises awareness, strengthens anti-racist efforts, and connects stakeholders across Saxony to promote a safe, discrimination-free environment for individuals perceived as Muslim.
Islamic Community Support Islamische Wohlfahrtspflege Co-founded in 2023 with key partners, this alliance raises awareness, strengthens anti-racist efforts, and connects stakeholders across Saxony to promote a safe, discrimination-free environment for individuals perceived as Muslim.
Women Led Initiatives Für mich, uns und alle A model project empowering migrant women to design and implement their own social projects. Initially supported by the Robert Bosch Stiftung, it expanded due to its success, fostering self-help initiatives across Leipzig and Dresden.
