Ladies Gallery: An exhibition on Palestinian heritage

One project that was created as part of our model project Für mich, uns und alle, which is supported by the Heidehof Foundation, is the Ladies Gallery. The women who have initiated this activity are mostly Palestinian women from Syria who want to cultivate, show and pass on the traditions of Arab Mediterranean culture. Independent of their occupation with upcycling, they produce typical, traditional products of their countries of origin by hand.

Originally, the exhibition was planned for March, but due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, it could not be held until 25 July. Specifically: from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Inclusive Neighbourhood Centre at Lindenauer Markt in Leipzig. At about ten tables not only many things could be marvelled at, but also purchased. Among other things, jewellery, but also decorative objects for the apartment were exhibited. A particularly interesting fact: Almost the entire exhibition, or rather the entire range of products offered by the women, was homemade.
